hainan daily, jinjiang, november 20 (reporter shao changchun, correspondent zhang guangming, zhang zhi, wang chao) a fully fueled lng (liquefied natural gas) powered ship slowly left the port, carrying a slight blue wave, without a trace of peculiar smell or oil smoke. on november 20th, the first coastal lng ship filling station in china, constructed and operated by china national offshore oil, gas, and power corporation, was officially put into operation at the chengmai zhonghai oil and gas village wharf.




it is reported that the operation of this filling station fills the gap in domestic coastal lng ship filling stations, and plays a demonstration and leading role in promoting the application of lng to marine ships in china. using lng as a marine power fuel has advantages such as green and low-carbon, low fuel cost, high propulsion efficiency, and superior performance. it is estimated that compared to fuel oil, ships powered by lng can reduce emissions of sulfur oxides and suspended particulate matter by 100% and nitrogen oxides by 90% annually, while reducing fuel costs.




at present, cnooc is aiming to "gasify the yangtze river", "gasify the the pearl river", "gasify the canal" and "gasify the coast", and actively cooperate with local governments to fully promote the development of the "green shipping" industry. the promotion of lng powered ships plays an important role in continuously improving the air quality of coastal and inland cities and protecting the inland rivers and marine environment.




wei hua, director of the consulting and evaluation center of cnooc energy economics research institute, said that the promotion of lng powered ships can effectively reduce the emissions of sulfur oxides and nitrogen oxides from ships, and better protect the atmospheric environment of hainan and the marine environment of the south china sea. the future development potential is huge. "the operation of the ma village lng ship filling station has laid a solid foundation for the development of the future industry."




machun lng ship filling station is a skid-mounted modular filling station with a designed annual filling capacity of 25000 tons, characterized by small investment, short construction cycle, and small floor space. the maximum filling capacity of the filling station is 54 cubic meters per hour, which is equivalent to filling diesel fuel. the station has been in trial operation since march 15 this year, and has safely refueled 12 ships for the two lng powered guard ships, "offshore oil 550" and "offshore oil 551". with the implementation of the cnooc clean energy ship project, it is expected that by the end of this year, six lng powered guard ships will be put into use in hainan.




gao jinlu, the person in charge of hainan region of gas power group, said that the group will take advantage of the first-mover advantage of the lng industry, actively build a lng ship refueling network around hainan island, vigorously promote the "oil to gas" conversion of existing fuel fishing vessels, tugboats, ro-ro passenger ships, and other vessels, as well as the use of lng as a driving force for new vessels, and take practical actions to assist in the fuel cleaning in the shipbuilding sector in hainan, contributing value to the first realization of the "carbon peak" and "carbon neutral" goals in hainan province.




the operation of this project is also a substantial step forward after the first ship refueling of "gasification of the pearl river". wang dongjin, chairman of cnooc, stated that cnooc will increase its natural gas supply capacity, accelerate the construction of a sound new energy industry system, actively promote new energy secondary entrepreneurship, and lead the way in the green and low-carbon transformation of energy.
